Terms & Conditions

These terms govern your use of Tangent, the home-learning service provided by Kinson Management Limited. By creating an account or continuing to use the service, you agree to them.

1. Who you are contracting with

Tangent is operated by Kinson Management Limited (“we”, “us”, “the seller”), trading as Tangent. When you create an account or purchase a plan, your contract is with Kinson Management Limited.

You must be an adult with the authority to enter into this agreement. Accounts are created and managed by a parent or guardian; children use the service under that adult’s supervision.

2. The service

Tangent creates personalised learning journeys for children — stories, challenges, quizzes and knowledge checks — aligned to school-year curriculum topics chosen by the parent. Content is generated for your child’s year group, subjects and interests, and is intended to support, not replace, school education.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your household, within the plan you have selected.

3. Acceptable use

You must not misuse the service. In particular, you must not:

  • use the service for anything unlawful, fraudulent or deceptive;
  • infringe anyone’s intellectual property rights;
  • interfere with the service’s security, probe or scan it, or introduce malware;
  • scrape, bulk-download or resell the content;
  • reverse engineer the service or circumvent its technical limits;
  • share account credentials outside your household.

4. Learning content and AI

Learning journeys and answer feedback are generated with the help of AI. We design the service to check understanding rather than hand out answers, but generated content may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete. It is not a substitute for professional educational, medical, psychological or legal advice, and important facts should be verified against your child’s school materials.

You are responsible for the homework documents and images you upload: you must have the right to use them, and they must not contain unlawful content.

5. Intellectual property

We own the service and its intellectual property, including the software, design, branding and documentation. Content generated for your child’s journeys is licensed to you for your household’s personal, non-commercial use.

6. Accounts and credentials

You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your login details — and your children’s usernames and PINs — confidential, and for all activity under your account.

7. Payments and subscriptions

Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle’s Buyer Terms.

8. Service level

We work hard to keep Tangent available and improving, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. We may update, pause or withdraw features with reasonable notice where practical.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms, fail to pay, pose a security or fraud risk, or repeatedly or seriously violate our policies. When access ends, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Notice.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or special damages (including loss of profits, data or goodwill). Our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury where the law does not allow it.

11. General

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. You may not assign this agreement without our consent; we may assign it in connection with a merger or acquisition. We are not liable for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
